Summary

Esurance has a great career opportunity for you! We are seeking an Associate Underwriter who will be responsible for completing task-driven underwriting work of low complexity. This junior level Underwriter role interacts extensively with customers and is expected to accurately communicate various underwriting actions to policyholders, explain the need for required documents to continue coverage, and advise how these forms and documents will affect insurance coverage.  The Associate Underwriter will also be assisting in special projects utilizing multiple databases for effective underwriting and investigations.  If you possess underwriting experience and/or experience with property and casualty insurance terminology, then this may be your chance to advance your career with an exceptional company!

Responsibilities

  • Complete task-driven underwriting functions on new and existing insurance policies in multiple states with limited authority.
  • Work within state underwriting guidelines and state regulations with direct oversight and in partnership with more senior staff. 
  • Communicate with customers regarding required documentation and/or underwriting actions. 
  • Work with multiple computer databases. 
  • Recognize opportunities for developing and enhancing underwriting process and procedure. 
  • Support the organization with process driven projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills are a must. 
  • Solid computer skills and use with MS Office and Excel. 
  • Ability to resolve low complexity underwriting issues within state regulatory guidelines 
  • Ability to partner with more experienced staff on resolving moderate complexity underwriting issues 
  • Highly motivated to learn independently and with others 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills a must. 
  • Ability to interface with diverse employee and customer groups is essential.

  

Experience / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience is required
  • Experience with property and casualty insurance terminology is preferred
  • Underwriting experience is desired
