    Responsibilities

    As the Underwriting Supervisor, you will be responsible for management of a designated underwriting team and their execution of all risk selection controls and processes developed for the products supported.  This includes monitoring the quality of work, productivity, and overall effectiveness of the underwriters reporting to this position. As the Underwriting Supervisor will be a subject matter expert for underwriting and will work closely with response center teams to ensure that processes and procedures are well documented and being executed upon. 

     

    • Manage a team of Underwriting associates
    • Ensure execution of all risk selection controls and processes
    • Achieve and maintain the level of subject matter expert for all underwriting processes and risk selection controls
    • Manage work flow and reporting of key performance metrics for their designated team
    • Identify and recommends process improvement initiatives
    • Manage the implementation of new processes, risk controls and related projects that impact the team
    • Accountable for staffing and on boarding of new associates, as well management of all aspects through the employment lifecycle
    • Work closely with response center to ensure that processes and procedures are documented appropriately and are being executed upon
    • Manage projects as assigned

    To be considered for this role you must have both home and auto underwriting experience.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to lead, motivate and influence a diverse group of associates is essential
    • Solid computer skills and use with MS Office Products
    • Ability to resolve complex underwriting issues within state regulatory guidelines independently
    • Experience with property and casualty insurance terminology
    • Strong communication and decision making skills is essential
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills a must


    Experience / Education:

    • Bachelors degree in Business, a related field or equivalent education required
    • 3 or more years of personal lines insurance experience required, with 2 or more in personal lines underwriting
    • 1-2 years of supervisory/management or related experience preferred
