  • Summary

    The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test position is a hands-on role that contributes to the success at Esurance by designing and developing robust, performant and reusable automated test processes, scripts and tools for the growing application, platform and system landscape. This position would be responsible for operating within fast-paced initiatives, in an Agile lifecycle.

    Responsibilities

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Design and develop automated test scenarios to test assigned application features in each sprint
    • Participate in test tool design discussions
    • Evangelize automation and assist others to automate manual processes where possible.
    • Experience utilizing debugging tools, conducting root cause analysis conducting fixes where possible
    • Mentor Jr SDETs
    • Integrate with CI/CD to establish continuous test cycle
    • Collaborate with other SDETs to develop test strategies to tackle complex testing scenarios
    • Maintain automation scripts and framework
    • Maintain credibility in communication. Be on top of follow up items, commitments and deliverables
    • File defects during testing and validate production fixes

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Ability to write code in one or more programming languages like Java, Python, C#, Javascript
    • Experience in testing and automating web UI using frameworks and tools like Selenium, TestNG etc
    • Experience in testing and automating RESTful APIs
    • Working knowledge of the various types of testing, from functional testing to performance and security testing
    • Knowledge of White Box Testing practices using tools like SonarQube
    • Experience using test case management tools like QAComplete, TCM or TestRail.
    • Experience in bug management tools like Bugzilla or JIRA and development environments like Visual Studio or Eclipse
    • Detailed knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including OO principles, coding standards, code reviews, source control, build and release processes, continuous deployment, and test suite development and maintenance with Jenkins is highly desirable
    • Working knowledge of application software development lifecycle concepts and test environment and configuration management concepts in an Agile and occasionally in a traditional waterfall setting
    • Ability to work in a group setting and collaborate by providing transparency in test results
    • Experience working in Agile/Scrum models
    • Ability to critique work of self and others constructively
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Enthusiastic and energetic with an inherent curiosity to break code and stress test it

     

    Experience / Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent education required, a Master’s degree is preferred
    • Alternatively, 6+ years of experience in delivering software test automation practices with various automation tools with different testing methodologies OR 4+ years of experience as a software engineer building and writing code for various ecommerce and online applications are acceptable.
