    The Ecommerce team is responsible for managing the online 24x7 web facing component of Esurance?s systems with a strong focus on automation, availability and performance. As senior site reliability engineer your role is to design and build the platform, tools and infrastructure required to manage all aspects of an online service including but not limited to configuration management, provisioning, deployments, monitoring and automated repairs. This role works in close coordination with our Development and QA teams to scope requirements and design solutions with a strong focus on availability, performance and scalability. This role requires an excellent operational knowledge with experience in identifying, diagnosing and troubleshooting production issues at a deep level within a predominantly Windows environment.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Plays a lead role in the planning, design and implementation of a fully automated management platform.
    • Assists in defining automated monitoring, deployment and repair strategies that meet business requirements and adhere to standards and best practices.
    • Performs in depth analysis of Windows 20xx production issues and troubleshoot/resolve production issues in a timely manner.
    • Helps & mentors other team members and must be able to manage teams of 1-3 people on small and mid size projects.
    • Trains offshore teams on operational support procedures, evaluate their performance and take corrective actions.
    • Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
    • Occasional travel may be required.

    • Works effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
    • Organized and detail-oriented, able to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong analytical, problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership capability within a team and ability to drive a project to completion.
    • Experience setting policies, procedures, network software and hardware standards, documentation standards.

      Experience / Education:
    • 5+ years experience working in a live production environment of 300+ servers.
    • Demonstrated programming skills in C# including a working knowledge of WCF & Web Services.
    • Experience supporting Windows, IIS6/7.x and .NET 3.5 and 4.x applications in a production environment.
    • Solid understanding of operational principles, such as capacity planning, monitoring and incident handling.
    • Experience automating processes such as provisioning, deployments and repairs.
    • Experience working in a DevOps role strongly preferred.
    • Experience working in an online service or ecommerce environment preferred.
    • Experience with a scripting language such as PowerShell preferred.
    • Experience working in a PCI compliant environment preferred.
