    Responsibilities

    • Supervises PIP/Non-Fault litigation matters referred from the local state claims office from inception through trial.
    • Directly handles No-Fault case load from inception through trial in addition to supervising cases assigned to other staff attorneys.
    • Works closely with management and the local claims office to assist in developing best practices for handling No-Fault matters.
    • Coordinates assignments and calendaring among internal staff and ensure high-quality case handling in a cost-efficient manner.
    • Recommends internal processes and best practices designed to achieve high-quality representation and case resolution that serves the best interest of the client in an effective, cost-efficient manner within the limits prescribed by law.
    • Supervises staff attorneys and support staff assigned to handle No-Fault litigation matters to ensure case handling standards and favorable results are being achieved
    • Monitors and advises on changes in applicable state statutes, regulations and case law relative to No-Fault litigation.
    • Provides periodic assistance with direct audits of outside defense panel and may assist in handling third party litigation matters.
    • May be responsible for the employment, promotion, associate performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling, and discipline of assigned associates.

     

    Qualifications

    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a collaborative team oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
    • Excellent communication skills both oral and written with strong analytical skills.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and calendaring software programs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of civil procedures on local, state, and federal court rules.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of state legal system and law relevant to No-Fault and general personal injury insurance defense litigation preferred.
    • Ability to effectively and timely navigate lawsuit from inception through trial
    • Active license in good standing with State Office of Court Administration

     

    Experience / Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in political science and/or equivalent education required; Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required from an ABA approved school.
    • Five or more year's litigation defense attorney with two or more years experience handling state No-Fault defense litigation required with two or more year?s people management of attorneys preferred.
    • Trial experience required and staff counsel experience preferred.
