    The Senior Manager of CloudOps will be responsible to manage the personnel, tasks and projects associated with automation of the build, deployment, and delivery lifecycle of all key in house customer facing web applications.  S/he will be managing cloud initiatives from inception to production of all ECOMM and other applications, which are critical to our businesses such as distributed systems development, cloud native transformation, and much more.  In addition, the Sr Mgr CloudOps will be responsible to work with engineering to drive microservices based architecture for the Esurance application platform. The senior manager will collaborate with Engineering, Development, and Quality Assurance teams to facilitate implementation and management of continuous build integration and automated delivery systems and develop strategies to enhance system lifecycle management automation.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Manages principal engineers and first level managers responsible for automation of delivery of all Esurance in house developed systems.
    • Manages approval of new code through security and performance gates that has been designed and developed for feature-complete software and will be an advocate for security and performance standards
    • Drives zero touch testing lifecycle from code check in to production deployment using CI/CD
    • Oversees automation of capacity planning, deployment and performance management of key applications.
    • Manages and drives automation of server configuration and application deployment for our custom applications
    • Manages and drives automation of build and integration processes using Jenkins, Terraform and Chef
    • Oversees technical design documents to ensure Operational requirements are met to allow a high degree of automation, security, and performance management.
    • Ensures to meet the SLA for operational objective of "99.9% availability" for business ecommerce applications
    • Responsible for performance, training, motivation and mentoring of the team.
    • Participates in defining key metrics for measuring service level and delivery quality; regularly analyzes and reports on key metrics and makes recommendations for improving internal processes.
    • As a key member of the team, s/he will respond to all major critical production issues and escalations on 24 hours/7 days a week
    • Leads in developing high quality, rapidly changing software
    • Responsible for recruiting and hiring engineers/managers including working with recruiting, technical leads, and other engineering leaders through the process
    • Develops a full understanding of the business to effectively design, develop, and implement tools and processes that enable a highly available, scalable, and reliable customer experience
    • Anticipates and manages technology evolution and map to business solutions
    • Works with business stakeholders, Engineering leadership, and Architects to drive holistic technology implementation across product teams
    • Relays continuous feedback
    • Listens to and supports teams in problem identification and decision making and Inspire creativity and innovation
    • Formulates and drives process and organizational improvement which enhances overall effectiveness. Understands business process, issues, problems, and apply appropriate Technology standards and solutions.
    • Develops and analyzes trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations.

    • Possesses high level understanding in the areas of web application programming, content management systems, API, databases, and system design
    • Knowledge of compliance frameworks PCI, SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and the ability to apply their requirements and concepts to a complex environment
    • Strong interpersonal communication and diplomacy skills, as well as a passion for leading
    • Strong technical experience, knowledge, and understanding of microservices architecture
    • Experience on Migration/Delivering enterprise web applications on AWS or equivalent
    • Experienced technologist solid understanding of agile and lean methodologies, and the development of cloud applications
    • Someone who cares about their team, shows exemplary personal respect, and is willing to coach and develop trust
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Able to work effectively and independently under deadlines, and within a collaborative team oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
    • Organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
    • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to effectively resolve conflicts and the ability to manage multiple priorities from internal customers required.
    • Able to interface with all functions at all levels within the organization; able to coordinate cross-functional teams.


    Experience / Education:

    • 7 or more years of experience with the direct supervision of employees.
    • 8 years of progressive DevOps engineering experience
    • 5 years of DevOps leadership experience
    • Recent 5 years’ experience successfully leading DevOps in high growth environment
    • B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent education required
