    We are seeking a Director of Technical Program Management to lead our delivery function.


    The ideal candidate for this role has deep experience in delivering multiple solutions for customers in an Agile-driven environment. They think fast, move fast, demonstrate solid judgment and always earn trust through competence and character. They have excellent communication skills, and they know how to inspire teams and not break trust. They know how to coordinate large planning initiatives with lots of contributing teams and individuals, and they know how to dig deep when needed to deliver results. We need someone who thrives in ambiguity, solves key business problems, has excellent judgment and intuition, and can think of all the right questions and when to ask them.

     

    Reporting to the Managing Director for the Technology function, the role offers a rare degree of responsibility, accountability and visibility. The Director will interact regularly with the Esurance Executive team, which consists of the President and his direct Managing Directors who lead Claims, Core Product, Sales and Marketing.

    Responsibilities

    The Director will interact regularly with the Esurance Executive team, which consists of the President and his direct reports who lead Claims, Core Product, Sales and Marketing.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

     

    • Owns the delivery of all the products our customers and customer-facing associates use.
    • Hires, develops and manages a team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and others who will assist you with driving the execution.
    • Drives the creation of solutions for our customers by collaborating with Engineering Directors, Product Managers, Principle Engineers, DevOps, Business Operations and Analytics.
    • Drives reviews with the team and key stakeholders / users, with an emphasis on reviewing working code
    • Provides architectural guidance and direction throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Be the SME on the traditional and Agile methodology, effectively applies knowledge to projects, and enforces project standards.
    • Leads prioritization, track risks, and handle escalations for multiple programs.
    • Demonstrates the ability to dive into the details to diagnose and drive resolution of issues, and provide a summarized view of the status and risks to key stakeholders and senior leaders.
    • Demonstrates a sound ability to earn trust with everyone you collaborate with while driving for results.

      

    Qualifications:

     

    • Strong business and technology leader who can partner with other business leaders to drive results.
    • Solution oriented, service oriented and results oriented.
    • A passion for software product delivery experience in ecommerce/online required.
    • Must possess a sound understanding of the technical pieces that comprise a solution and be able to direct the TPMs who drive technology solutions with the Engineering and Business teams.
    • Proven ability to concisely communicate with an executive audience in both written and verbal communications.
    • Ability to understand and handle rapidly evolving business challenges and complexities.

     

    Experience / Education:

    • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or another technical discipline (Master’s or advanced technical degree preferred)
    • 7+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams delivering software requiring coordination between several technical and non-technical teams (engineering, product, operations, business).
    • 7+ years of experience in project management and coordinating/driving release schedules.
    • 4 years of people management experience.
    • 1-2 years’ experience as a Software Developer.
