    Esurance is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with proven design skills to join a small, highly motivated team to analyze and translate business requirements into technical specifications, design and develop multi-tier distributed applications in a Windows/Internet environment, accurately document and present system designs, coordinate with other IT groups to deliver projects, test and debug applications and identify track and resolve defects.Esurance systems are built using the latest Microsoft and Java technologies following SOA best practices with a focus on scalability, maintainability and reuse.


    • Develop and support internal (Agent facing) and external (Customer facing) front-end web applications.
    • Work closely with Product Management, UX and Design, giving input on what is both intuitive and feasible
    • Contribute to front end architectural improvements and create shared visual components that span our services.
    • Create and document system designs using standard software design patterns. 
    • Implement high quality, secure and maintainable code that conforms to Esurance coding standards
    • Provide technical leadership within the development team
    • Test and debug applications using both coded and manually executed test cases.
    • Clearly communicate status and open issues to team and manager.
    • Provide technical leadership and work effectively within a team environment to implement projects in a timely manner


    • Organized and detail-oriented, able to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
    • Good analysis and design skills, yet able to complete projects and tasks in a timely manner Robust knowledge of standard application architectures such as MVC, MVVM and standard software design patterns.
    • Deep understanding of best practices in design, optimization, interaction and usability.
    • Deep understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations
    • Focus on teamwork; able to collaborate with Business and other IT staff on projects.
    • Able to work effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team oriented environment using sound judgment in decision making.

      Experience / Education:

    • 5+ years .NET - C#, ASP.NET., Javascript, JQuery, CSS
    • 5 + years of consuming RESTful APIs and WebServices
    • Proven front end skills with a working experience in rapid product development building web pages / applications using client side technologies like JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, HTML
    • Experienced working in agile/scrum and relevant tools like JIRA, TFS.  Bitbucket is a plus.
    • 3+ years MS SQL Server skills.
    • Strong XML, XSL, Schema.
    • Prefer knowledge of the Microsoft MVC framework
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent education required, a Master's degree is preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in software development required which includes experience with web application development, object-oriented programming, and asynchronous programming.
    • Microsoft Certification and insurance industry experience preferred.
