    Responsibilities

    As the Manager, Underwriting you will manage all aspects of Policy Services while ensuring that all policy premium discrepancies are identified and that all policy data is utilized properly to generate the correct premium for all policies.

    • Provide direct oversight for day to day operations of policy administration, and insurance operations functions. Implement personal lines rating and acceptability criteria
    • Analyze effectiveness of acceptability and rating guidelines and communicate suggested revisions to product management team
    • Monitor the quantity and quality of work performed by the business unit. Accountable for effective implementation of and adherence to established business processes and underwriting rules
    • Establish and adjust staff and workflows to facilitate the most efficient use of resources and provide the best possible service to internal and external customers
    • Explain procedural specifics to staff, insured, claims, and other business unit managers. Aids in the creation and development of new practices and procedures. Hold meetings and gives presentations to staff and varied management personnel
    • Establish and monitor business unit processing standards and performance objectives
    • Answer all policy related questions from claims and the response center, and create appropriate communication networks to handle inquiries.
    • Responsible for the employment, promotion, associate performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling, and discipline of assigned associates.
    • Evaluate tools and vendor provided solutions including cost controls for products ordered 

    Qualifications

    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.
    • Experience and knowledge in the rating of automobile insurance.
    • Experience with property and casualty insurance terminology.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Solid computer skills and use with MS Office Products.
    • Ability to interface with diverse employee groups is essential. 


    Experience / Education:

    • Bachelors degree in Business, a related field, or equivalent education required.
    • Minimum of five years insurance management experience.
